Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Student Chapter – PSVPEC
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Student Chapter at Prince Shri Venkateshwara Padmavathy Engineering College aims to build awareness and inculcate the importance of quality, safety, and standardization among engineering students. Established in collaboration with BIS, the chapter serves as a vital platform for students to understand the role of national standards in technical development and public welfare.
Through expert lectures, workshops, technical quizzes, awareness campaigns, and visits to BIS laboratories, the student chapter promotes a quality-first mindset among budding engineers. It also helps students explore how Indian Standards impact industries, innovation, and consumer protection.
The BIS chapter encourages students to participate in Standard Writing Activities, Idea Competitions, and Quality Consciousness Programs, thereby enhancing their knowledge of compliance, certification, and regulatory practices.
The initiative aligns with PSVPEC’s vision of producing technically competent and socially responsible engineers who are aware of national and global quality benchmarks.
